Installing Your Motorola Solutions DAS with Accuracy & Integrity

Once design approval is complete, Motorola Solutions moves into the implementation phase, where every detail of your system is brought to life in the field. Our certified installation teams follow the approved engineering package precisely—laying hard-line coax, routing fiber, mounting antennas, and integrating BDA/remote units—all in strict compliance with code, manufacturer specifications, and Motorola’s own R56 Standards and Guidelines for Communication Sites.

We begin with a pre-construction walk-through to confirm equipment locations, cable pathways, and structural considerations. During this phase, low-voltage permits, DAS permits, and professional engineer (P.E.) stamps are filed as required by local jurisdiction. Material staging, inventory validation, and permit approvals occur concurrently to maintain schedule efficiency.

Code Compliance and Survivability Requirements

When a system design requires compliance with NFPA 1225 (formerly NFPA 1221) for public safety communications, Motorola Solutions follows strict survivability and reliability standards in both equipment selection and installation practices.

  • Headend equipment rooms and vertical pathways must meet 2-hour fire-rated survivability requirements.
  • Donor antenna isolation must maintain a minimum of 20 dB above total system gain to prevent interference and oscillation.
  • Surge suppression devices are required on both AC power and donor coaxial feeds to protect against electrical events.
  • Cabling survivability levels:
    • Level 1 (Crush Protection): All coaxial and fiber cables must be protected from physical damage throughout their path.
    • Level 2 (2-Hour Fire Rating): Applies to headend equipment rooms, vertical risers, chases, and conduits.

Every installation meets or exceeds the Motorola R56 Standard, ensuring the highest level of system reliability and environmental protection for mission-critical communications.

Qualified and Certified Personnel

All installation personnel — whether Motorola Solutions employees or authorized partners—are certified or licensed in DAS/BDA technology. Each team is trained in proper cable handling, grounding, and system integration practices to maintain compliance with NFPA, IFC, and Motorola R56 standards. R56 certification is strongly recommended for all technicians involved in system implementation.

Testing and Calibration

Before any system element is approved, Motorola Solutions ensures that all measuring and test equipment is calibrated to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) reference standards. No test instrument outside of its calibration window is ever used on a Motorola Solutions project. This level of precision guarantees accurate data collection, system validation, and certification-ready documentation.

End-to-End Accountability

Every Motorola Solutions DAS installation is managed end-to-end—from drawings to delivery—by a single, accountable team. Our process minimizes disruptions to ongoing operations, preserves the aesthetic integrity of your facility, and ensures full traceability of every cable, component, and system test. The result is a properly installed, fully compliant, and long-lasting in-building communication system that performs when it matters most.

Precision Installation. Proven Performance.

Every Motorola Solutions DAS installation is built on precision, professionalism, and accountability. Our certified technicians, code-compliant methods, and R56-standard workmanship ensure that every connection, antenna, and pathway performs exactly as designed. By combining disciplined engineering with field-proven implementation practices, Motorola Solutions delivers public safety and enterprise systems that not only meet but exceed survivability and reliability standards—providing lasting confidence in every signal, every call, and every moment that matters.
